Born in Greußen in 1939, he lives in Sömmerda. After working as a teacher trainer, he began studying to be a subject teacher for art education/German in 1962 and worked as a teacher for art education/German at the Erweiterte Oberschule in Sömmerda from 1966-1990. After freelancing, he taught Art and German at the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium in Sömmerda from 1993-2002. He has been a member of the German Ex-libris Society since 2006.
His works were shown in numerous personal exhibitions as well as exhibition participations in Germany and abroad; among them in Böblingen, Wiesbaden, Mönchengladbach, Ankara, Rome, Naples, Cuba and were awarded prizes:
