In the artist's own words: " This painting is based on an image of my two sons on a very misty Autumn evening in our favourite swimming cove. the reminded me of two seal pups that re called Gormánach in Irish. Gorm is related to the blue grey coat of the grey seal pup after it sheds its white pup coat."
