The Nest , 2022

2022 Assyrian International Art Competition
Second Place

The title of this painting is “The Nest”, it’s based on a poem of mine that is written in metaphoric style. It’s subject is about a Nation in Exile. The Nest represents our homeland Assyria and the bird is the People of Assyria. It conveys the fall of our great empire. An empire that once stood as the world’s most powerful. Assyria was the cradle of civilization— a nation without borders. To this day, the nation continues suffering from genocide to genocide.
‘The Nest’ depicts how the enemy has forced us out of our own home, leaving us in our current situation being with no land to call our own.
In this painting, I portrayed this entire poem in two symbols, the Nest as I mentioned above being the homeland and the last feather being blown out of its home where it represents our people in diaspora and a stranger in their own land.
