Transience
Ink on Mylar paper

Transience means the state or quality of lasting only for a short time. As a noun, transient means someone who passes through a place, staying only briefly. After living through two years of a global pandemic, life feels too short. It is too short to try to fit into the roles that society has assigned to the individual. Too short to let other people hurt me. Too short to be angry with people.
With this work, I wanted to turn inwards and reflect on the conflicts I have experienced regarding my identity. I feel like I'm wiser post-pandemic. I am learning every day to allow myself to be vulnerable and listen to my inner voice to check my mental health. I made peace with my flaws and accepted myself as I am. This artwork might be a single piece, but it is the creation of thousands of perceptions accumulating over time.
