Art in Purple , 2023
100 x 200 cm (h x w)

In the artist's own words: "My name is Edna Šunjić and i'm from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. I'm the member of Association OAZA (for support of people with intellectual disabilities from the area of Sarajevo Canton). The unusual artistic technique of combining different materials (woodfix, jute sack, acrylic paint and newsprint) makes this work of art stand out. The artist created a monochrome image with the help of soaking newspaper in woodfix, which she then positioned on the plywood according to a free associative choice. She glued cut pieces of jute sacking around a centered newsprint collage. For her artistic expression, she chose purple, which she mixed with woodblock to give the surface of the painting an interesting texture. Her artistic expression testifies to the free expression of emotions through color and abstract artistic forms. The vision of the young artist associated with this work is equality in the creation of art and enjoyment in that process."
