“I was a school principal when the war started. After that, the economic situation worsened a lot and I lost my compensation money. I had only few years before retirement. When the earthquake hit us last month, we managed to flee before the roof falls on us. We have been saving money and building this home for the past two years, I was planning to give it to my two children. Now we are in debt with no house. Most people went back to living in tents, they are starting from zero.”
