Over the course of 12 years, the conflict has disrupted the agriculture production and supply chains, leading to significant food shortages. Moreover, food prices have skyrocketed, making it challenging for people to access adequate and nutritious food. 12 million people are facing acute food insecurity, including 1.8 million people living in internally displaced camps. Around 90 per cent of families in the country live in poverty, while more than 50% are food insecure. The economic crisis is worsening and people are following negative coping mechanisms which is particularly affecting female-headed households.
