The pure form of the the word, in stacked letters rather than with botanical appeal, is the Pontiro series from 2021. Is it because of the location that HRW has dispensed with natural formal language altogether here?
HRW has dealt intensively with his artistic idols. In his own work, however, he sets himself apart from these in humorous homage to such an extent that each of his works is characterized by his own unique style - working off of precedents raises him to a completely different level himself. HRW creates smooth transitions between humor in art, the irony of quotation and the entertainment factor of surprise. This is not a dissonance, and if so, he overcomes it with philosophical remarks in the form of text fragments.
The typographic elements are a component of some sculptures HRW has been dealing with for a long time. On the one hand, they derive from the place names of certain associations, or the destination, conceived for a specific place. On the other hand, in some of his cardboard pyramids such allusions already existed in word and letter form, although far less, or at least encoded differently. Meanwhile, HRW has arrived at the concept of writing in space, providing, as it were, the 3D furnishings of a physical map. Here, too, parallels arise with quite 'modern' conceptions of landscape, with geocaching or computer games, with HUD - Head Up Display - and this, as well, is an extension of the concept of art. The sculpture designates the place, on site/in situ, instead of depicting it.
