Petra Berger is a German artist who prefers to
paint on large formats that allow her to fully express her creativity. Her style is characterised
by delicate and elegant brushstrokes that give
the paintings balance and trigger in the viewer
a feeling of peace and harmony with the surrounding world, especially the natural world.
This is what we can see in the artwork entitled
‘Diptychon Magnolia’. Petra was inspired by a
photo and wanted to express the light-heartedness and beauty of a magnolia in bloom. She
started with an abstract floral motif and then
applied a series of exuberant and vibrant colours using various techniques, including printing, stamping, spraying and fusing. The result
is of great scenic impact. The diptych is able
to hypnotise the viewer’s gaze by transporting
him into a field of flowers: he almost seems to
be able to smell them.
