Grateful , 2023
Sketch - Pencil, Ink, Charcoal

"This piece's inspiration is from my father who has always taught me to be grateful for everything we have achieved till now because not everyone is able to reach this point. Being thankful for everything, no matter what we don’t have or want. With this positive mindset we will always be at peace and be able to help others. Gratitude is a complex expression and like an art piece, it can be hard to understand when you first see it. My artwork allows the audience to layer each side with their personal form of gratitude because only after one takes the time to interpret it, one would actually be able to feel that gratitude.
My artwork serves to illustrate this connection. Each interactive side is a unique representation of the relationship of the earth; blue hand depicting water and green hand depicting land. How the place we live one, the earth is held together with land and water. They both help each other to keep this earth as a whole. We as people just being grateful and helping those that are less fortunate can keep everyone united and as one.
When we regularly take time to give thanks and share a sense of abundance with others around us, we attract even more goodness. The same way when we take time to put our heart into an art piece, we create something more beautiful then what we imagine.
With us being grateful and helping, we can achieve a peaceful united community and world. "
