"Emma Studd uses the process of screen print to create original, geometric works of art predominately on paper but also on wood.
She uses the screen as a drawing tool to explore the relationship between colour, shape and pattern. Emma loves to play with the transparency of colour and texture: exploring how they interact and overlay in predictable and unpredictable ways. Implementing her own systematic way of printmaking Emma adapts and responds to the work as it evolves on the page. Intuitively making decisions about the balance of tone and colour she allows the process to define the outcome. Recently she has been working on a larger scale, then cropping and reprinting to create a smaller series of artworks. Ebb & Flow is one of the outcomes from this new way of working.
Emma has a BA (Hons) in Textile Design, PGCE in Art and Design and more recently completed her MA in Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking. She currently prints & teaches at Spike Print Studio in Bristol.
Emma has been exhibiting her work since 2019 in a number of independent and group shows including WCPF for the last four years. One of her printed wooden panels has been selected for this year�s Royal Academy Summer Exhibition."
