This particular series of work looks at Pop Art’s predisposition to accepting Western industrialisation in contrast with some of the effects of capitalism in action (other than pure commercialisation). I think of this as a guiding force of how our experience is organised and how we experience our psychological and cultural existence which is largely defined by our economic system. (For better or worse) I like to think of this as a kind of cognitive dissonance of capitalism. This piece delves into some of the social aspects of American culture through the lens of film and television. This work useful graphic and brightly coloured language to explore the contradictions of war. The delicate multi-layered drawings contrast with the graphic language and photographic portrayals of soldiers and explore different types of representation in dialogue with one another. The work seeks to seduce and repel simultaneously with the view to exploring representations of war in the media.
