This particular series of works looks at Pop Art’s predisposition to accepting Western industrialisation in contrast with some of the effects of capitalism in action (other than pure commercialisation). I think of this a guiding force of how our experience is organised and how we experience our psychological and cultural existence which is largely defined by our economic system. (For better or worse) I like to think of this as a kind of cognitive dissonance of capitalism. This piece delves into some of the social aspects of American culture through the lens of film and television. This work useful graphic and brightly coloured language to explore the contradictions of war. With the work taking images from the series Madmen depicting suburban lifestyles in a capitalist system in America in the 60’s and an image depicting a scene from the Kubrick Film ‘Full Metal Jacket’, the work seeks to examine the lifestyles and power dynamics in relation to economic systems while casting a critical eye of our use of representation in the media.

Exploring psychological and cultural permutations of space guides the focus of my practice. When making work I think about how changing the context of space can relocate it into a new spectrum of reference.

My work is deeply embedded in the appropriation of images and material. I see this as a kind of recycling of possible meaning that touches on both the personal and the cultural.

The work is influenced by popular culture and Pop Art and questions of representation while breaking things down and rebuilding them in a somewhat surreal vision.

The work engages with drawing, printmaking, and digital practices.
