Terminal Reverie , 2023
Digital Painting

“In the abyss of oblivion, I find inspiration.” Summer XIA's work is a reflection on the fleeting nature of memories and the faded stories capturing the essence of the former, giving voices to the whispers of the past. Over time, memories fade and once-vivid experiences become blurred. The places we visit, the routines we follow, and the people we encounter all lose their clarity, eventually slipping into the realm of forgotten recollections.
Summer XIA evokes a sense of melancholy, passage of time and the visual narrative through the symbolic elements, the train station, the “TERMINAL" of people's sprits, the endless grassland with the wavy clouds rinse away their memories. The artwork delves into the ephemeral nature of memories, stories, and existence itself. Inviting viewers to contemplate on their own impermanence, the things they’ve lost through their journey and the traces left behind.
