We don’t move forward alone. We become stronger every day when we take a step forward and often that is done in collaboration. This collaborative healing art piece does just that. This piece was made together with me, and my girlfriend’s children, Wells (6) and Mack (4). Mack spent an afternoon with Miriam and using pastel chalk made the base. Miriam, an ink pattern artist made the “stepping-stone path and patterned footprints” showcasing that life isn’t linear and takes various directions along the way, but we are always moving forward. Courtney, his mother, then traced Wells’ actual feet. Wells then drew on his footprints and those were cut out and added to the piece. One of the brothers is on the spectrum and this art piece signifies that we can do hard things together in Unity.
