In this artwork, Bob Carey stands out on the green grass, wearing a pink tutu. You might be wondering why he did that. The story begins with his early experiences.
In 2003, after moving to New York with his wife Linda, Bob took a self-portrait wearing only a pink tutu. Eight months later, Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer. Bob Carey realized that laughter is the best medicine, which prompted Bob to put on the tutu again as a way to face the challenge together. He began the Pink Tutu Project, as a way to support his wife during her battle with cancer. Later, Bob established a nonprofit foundation that provides support to women and their families throughout their experience with breast cancer. The project gained positive feedback and support from others. During a particular photoshoot experience, a stranger revealed their kidney surgery scar to Bob, expressing gratitude. This experience made Bob realize that the project had transcended him and his wife, becoming a source of inspiration and encouragement for others. He hopes that everyone can have their own "pink tutu" that gives them strength and lightens their load.
