My work is an expression of the world around me from my own consciousness within how I interpret topics with the subjective perspective of nihilism. Throughout my work there is the representation of the human face and body, because of its comfortability and expression to the audience. We are able to read into meanings and concepts with limited expression, because of our interpretations with applied experiences for a connection to the meanings of being human. The conscious mind gives us the opportunity to interpret things to have meaning, but I challenge the interpretation by using my view on reality. I pull emotion from personal experience into my interpretative expression of these compositions. In my paintings and drawings I utilize humor and exaggeration of color to depict figures immersed in precarious environments and psychological predicaments. Turning melancholy ideas into humor through the composition, aims to shine a different perspective on difficult topics. Being an artist in contemporary art, means I’m constantly questioning myself and my interpretations. I’m always trying to interpret the boundaries between art, life, society and politics. I aim to break stereotypes on how life should be interpreted so that we don’t lose the meaning of what art can be, to what society may want it to mean. Psychology in art can bring more philosophical meanings to my work, the subject matter comes from my personal interpretations influenced by current events around me. My goal is to deliver a questionable interpretation through the representation of my psychological perspective of the world around me. I am fascinated with memories and the feelings we attach to these realities from our past. The world around me changes everyday, with what we are told to believe and care about in the moment. Our perspective on the rules and obligations we are told from birth are being challenged by our new points of view. I want to have my work help change these viewpoints of reality and social construct.
