The figure plays a key role in my primary works. I have always been a figurative painter. I've studied the figure itself for many years, across many mediums, and the goal was the figure itself. The beauty of the body in every shape - just the figure itself or portraiture. I now embed the figure within a space/landscape to convey a narrative, impose a question, or, tell a story. Figures in movement, in work, doing mundane activities or finding joy, happiness, and sometimes mirth in everyday activities. At times, the figure is vague or is a suggestion within the landscape - this represents seeking, haunting, working the way out of the frame. My figurative work is also portraiture - I convey societal positions of those from all walks of life while revealing the true personality and inner character of my subjects. As a figurative painter I blend elements of Realism and Impressionism. Color is my license without losing the light of the scene or its subjects.
