My mixed media sculpture, You're Okay, Son. I've Got You (Blinded Liberty), intimately explores the theme of the human figure within the context of contemporary art. This piece is a poignant commentary on the interplay between individuals and authority figures.
The blinded youth represents innocence, idealism, encumbered by the weight of societal expectations. The walking hand serves as a symbol of the teachers, clergy, family members, community leaders we often idealize and trust to guide us.

The sculpture speaks to the way we perceive, interpret, and interact with figures whether they be authoritarian or vulnerable. It highlights the dual nature of our expectations and consequences of our reliance on others to guide us. (Blinded Liberty) engages with the theme of "figure" by challenging viewers to consider how these bodies are showcased, concealed, abstracted, and manipulated in our contemporary world, prompting reflection on power and trust in relationships that shape our lives.
