The Memory Alone
24 x 36 in (h x w)
photography, giclée print

My photography & editing style shines a light on the transience of all things. Whether it is an internal mindset/ emotion or circumstances in the external world, things are constantly changing. I find peace in capturing these transient states; those moments of grey area where situations shift. There is a freedom, a peace in the lack of control.

The human form tends to reflect the state of the human mind, which tends to reflect the state of its environment. In my artwork, the subject's body/figure is often melting into its environment. Some parts of the subject's body are obscured by the darkness, showing how external circumstances can suck you in. Yet, the subjects in my artwork are often unbothered by their external circumstances or they are experiencing a change in mindset which rises above their physical situation. Highlighting and obscuring different parts of the human figure in my artwork is vital to getting this message across.
