Beit Iksa is a small village that lies Northwest of Jerusalem, Israel in the West Bank of Palestine.
The village has a small population of under two thousand people. My structure sits on the edge of the village, intersecting the invisible border of the two lands: Palestine and Israel.
The Reconciliation Center is a space to house Non-Governmental Organizations fighting for peace within this space and uses space and borders to uplift those working hard for the lives of both peoples. The structure features extensive office space, a ‘senate’ room, conference rooms, gallery space, classrooms, and an open patio.
This structure, in its orientation, form and materiality, pays homage to the village of Beit Iksa and nods to Lifta, a forgotten village that was turned into a national park.
