Zue Chan graduated from Stage Production and Scenery at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) and received a Bachelor Degree of Fine Arts (Honours) in Theatre and Entertainment Arts . In 2016, Chan learnt from Lien Jui-Fen to further develop her contemporary ink painting techniques and completed the ink painting diploma of the School of Continuing Education of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2020.She also obtained the qualification of lecture from American Floral Art School in the same year. After her graduation, she worked with many organizations to paint and promote murals, such as Project One Artlane, the stairs of a Grade A commercial building on Garden Road in Central, and the sky garden of Burlington Hotel in Wanchai. She is currently an artist of the Jockey Club Art and Well-being Schools’ Mural Project and regularly teaches murals at different school. In addition, she is a colorist of Lemac, a new paint brand under the Yip's Chemical Group, using her outstanding colour sense to help promote personalized colour paint. During her study in the HKAPA, Chan was impressed by the painting sets of a Cantonese opera. Depicting the Chinese stone chairs, pavilions, props, arouse her interests in contemporary ink painting. Experiencing the visual effects on stages and Chan was inspired to use different media and material from both Chinese painting and western painting. After that, she begins to study different Chinese and Western painting media and starts her exploration to use western oil painting method to paint cloud and the “Tsun” technique from Chinese painting to deal with stone textures. This innovative combination has brought a unique characteristic to her artwork. Perhaps under the cultural influence of the stage production “Demolition of the Chaos at the Night”, Chan lament the short life of each stage painting. But because of this unchangeable destiny, she gradually let go of her obsessions, and instead enjoyed the fun of painting more and went through a process of self-healing one after another. Chan held her first solo exhibition "Unconstrained" at PMQ in 2021, showing a series of contemporary ink landscapes painting with the theme of “spirit files freely like the wondering cloud ……”. She uses different creative techniques and media to exhibits the unpredictable expression of the mountain ranges, rivers, fog and clouds. Chan’s novel idea gives her landscape painting a distinctive style.
