Takezaki Suenaga eager to join the Battle
Takezaki Suenaga had hoped to be among the first into battle, but on his march he encountered a group returning from the front, carrying the heads of two of the enemy, one on the point of a sword, another on a naginata. Asked by the stranger, who he was,he replied ''I am Takezaki Goro Hyoe Surnaga, from your province. Watch me attack.' And off he charged.
The exchange is interesting. The samurai style of fighting was to announce one own name and challenge an enemy to fight. That way there would be a witness to one's valour, and support for reward afterwards. This individualistic style of fighting, of course, found no counterpart among the mogol forces.
