Lei Lady Lei stems
not only from
a Dylan song title
But mainly from
The lei stations
outside the
Honolulu Airport.
If there was time
Before my flight
I would always stop
At the lei stations
And purchase
Several leis
For friends and family
For my flight home.
There were so many to choose from
All the different flowers
Were so beautiful
And smelled divine!
I particularly love
The Tuberose
Called Pikake
In Hawaiian

We had just become adults
Gathering political momentum
A cornerstone

Iowa
Where you had your choice to
Watch cows graze or
Corn grow
But on Friday nights
The whole town would
Come into the square
For an evening of
Square Dancin’
All gussied up in their
Square Dancin’ outfits
With a caller callin’
Swing ur partner left and right turn em round and hold em tight

O what fun to watch from up above
the B&B Drug Store
Where Chris lived and
We could watch from the windows
like balcony seats
Or during the day our friends
Would drop by for a friendly
game of monopoly
With the different businesses below like Mr Gobbles Fine Clothing Store or the new Hair Salon
where I painted Flowing hair on the windows for $50- and then
Was asked to do the lil restaurant on the corner, the laundry mat,

And pretty much every
Business on the square

Iowa was awesome!
Once you got past the fact
That there was nothin’ to do
Except play pool or
Join the school play

I remember when a
swarm of waterbugs
came thru town
They were knee deep
on the streets,
I mean you had to
wear boots in the middle of a sweltering summer!
That’s about when the electrical storms would come and lightning would be so bright at night
It would light up
the entire state
Iowa was so flat
you could see for
Miles when
lightning’d strike
