Birth of Venus
There are a couple of classical scenes in art which have inspired me to reinterprete. Botticellis Birth of Venus is a good example. But while Botticelli shows the moment of arrival at the beach in a narrative manner I was more interested in Venus itself as an allegorical figure embodying beauty, love and sexual desire which get through everyday human life like the restless arms of an octopus.
