Reconciliation is Dead , 2020
Watercolor painting

In my artworks I wanted to address certain aspects of the pandemic. Like how Black and Native Americans are more likely to die from Covid-19 than white Americans as a result of various factors like redlining, poverty, and racism that my country was founded on. So while we are all going through a global pandemic, we must recognize that we are not all affected the same way. Many of us feel drowned by the constant news surrounding Covid-19 and it can be overwhelming with all that has been happening just this year. It can also represent how because of this virus and in some instances the lack of infrastructure in some countries has led to many feeling overwhelmed and "drowned" by the grief of having members of their communities dying, by wealth inequality, oppression, or just overall anxiety about the current state of our world. These pieces are also meant to represent how we have to value the well-being of our community over our own selfish reasons, like wearing masks during a pandemic.
