El Jaleo , 2014
6 x 8.8 in (h x w)

Pageant of the Masters re-creation of “El Jaleo” by John Singer Sargent for the 2014 production, “The Art Detective.”

Look carefully at the 5 mariachi players in the background. In the living picture, these roles are played by volunteers ages 5 - 6 years old. This artwork resides in the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. During the 2014 Pageant, the story of the shocking theft of artworks from the Gardner Museum was depicted. Fortunately El Jaleo was not stolen, but the Gardner theft remains the most expensive and still unsolved art heist in history.
