Prisoners of Habit , 2020
Video

The warmer it gets the more we buy air conditioners and fans to cool down, which in turn increases global warming - it seems like a vicious circle!
It’s predicted that around two-thirds of the world’s households would have air conditioners and fans by 2050, and the demand for energy to cool buildings will triple.
Unfortunately, we all have personally experienced it, in the last few summers, when the temperatures crossed 40-degree Celsius and it was impossible to work in our homes without plugging in the fan.

In this video, we want to question the polarity of the current predicament. On the one hand, temperatures are shooting up every year due to global warming and on the other hand, it’s getting difficult to survive through the summers without cooling devices (to add up to the carbon emissions!!!)

To provoke the gravity of the situation and absurdity of the future, we have deviated a typical working environment to a prison-like claustrophobic environment by adding more and more fans throughout time.
With our art, we also want to show the human behaviour of treating the symptoms rather than looking for the root cause and solving it. Especially for climate change.
