For this painting, I really wanted to use bright colors that will catch the eyes of the viewer. In the world today, it can be hard to see the wonderful colors that nature brings to us each day and appreciate them for what they really are. I wanted to make a piece that can give people a moment to get lost in the painting. As an impressionism painting, I wanted to capture the different layers of paint within the sky and the reflection on the lake. This painting required many layers of paint as well as different shades of each base paint color. I also wanted to use the boat to break up all of the colors within the painting by using cool tones for it as well as for the grass area in the front.
