In this performance, I symbolically broke free from the confinement of the numbers of a weigh scale as I physically shattered the weight scales that lined the floor of the Hidden Secrets of Eating Disorders installation. These weight scales were covered in words people felt about them and the internalization of diet culture. The word, “parade,” used in the title is representative of my internal celebration as an eating disorder warrior as with the sledgehammer I pound into my worst enemy. The demolished residue of the weight scale is an artifact of this performance and is placed in a shadowbox to be presented as a trophy.
