Inspired by an article in the National Geographic about how the melting Arctic Tundra is opening up possibilities for better access to its gas, oil and mineral deposits, this abstract mixed media paintings aims to capture my response to our relentless quest for progress which plunders and exploits the planet\'s resource at an alarming rate. The title of the painting comes from a poem by Mary Oliver called \'On Traveling to Beautiful Places\'. It aptly communicates the effects of human mobilisation as we race around the world searching for riches, seemingly unaware or heedless of all specialist advice.
