This piece is the culmination of a year in which Gyuk has learned and experimented to have a focus where to express emotions through certain abstractions, without losing the figurative work behind his work.
“HabitΣa” focuses on the coexistence of the different emotions of the human being. Normally my works are framed in open spaces, dream landscapes where there is air between the figure and the background. With this work, on the other hand, I wanted to explore other paths and I guided the concept towards a more real or everyday terrain: a room without a horizon, which is lost by the density of the air, a room that encloses us, not like a cage but as a container for our emotions. Even so, the figure that we find sitting in the center is calm, accepts the situation in which it is, both internally and externally, accepts that darkness that surrounds it. The lateral figures represent other personalities, insecurities, fears, desires ... showing all of them in harmonious coexistence. They represent those emotions that we perceive, although they are not defined, and that are part of us. Nowadays it is easy to cover up with a screen or with a distraction all those emotions that miss us and that we avoid wanting to feel.
This work may seem strange to us, since it shows a figure that accepts both his personality and his life in its entirety, no matter how dark they may seem. " (Gyuk, January 17, 2021).
