"With 51 years of age, Tim was by far one of the last remaining "Big Boys" in Africa, with tusks reaching down to the ground. After several days of following him, I had the chance to make this remarkable iconic portrait. He slowly marched straight towards me without any fear or aggression. Nothing blows my mind more than being so close to these giants. Being only 3 meters away, you can feel his dignity, awareness and gentleness, but also his unbelievable power. It was a breathtaking moment and one that changes your perception of many things. This was a once in a lifetime encounter.
Tim died in February 2020 of natural cause."
