Ready To Let Go

Cage The Elephant performing live at Victoria Warehouse, Manchester on their Social Cues UK Tour in February 2020. Titled 'Ready To Let Go' after one of the bands most popular songs. This was the last gig I went to and photographed before COVID-19 put a hold on concerts and large events for the foreseeable future. Cage The Elephant are one of the most energetic bands of the last decade; lead singer Matt Shultz does not stop moving whilst on stage, so this picture in particular took a certain level of skill to capture. It was taken at ISO 1000, f5 and with a shutter speed of 1/100; in concert photography it is often difficult to get 'the shot', due to lighting, moving subjects and limited time. Generally at larger capacity venues, where there is a photography pit between the crowd and stage, photographers are allocated the first three songs only. This means there are less than 10 minutes to capture the shots you need for assignment, it's often a very tough job with a quick turnaround!
