I love ducks. Ever since I was a small child, I have had a fondness for ducks. My mom said that I would ask her to take me to the park, first to feed the ducks, then to draw them. These many years later, I really enjoy going to the local parks or the Phoenix Zoo ponds to sketch the wild ducks from life. It is a wonderful exercise to sharpen my drawing skills and also a lovely way to spend the morning outside in the fresh air. This painting is from one of those sketching trips. It’s a fond remembrance of a sunny morning spent with the local mallards in the park.
