1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Over 250,000 protesters came to Washington DC and gathered at the Lincoln Memorial in August. The March was attended by many celebrities such as Paul Newman, Sidney Poitier, Harry Belafonte, and Diahann Carroll.
