The older barns in the rural area where I live are a favorite subject of mine; they tell a story of history, age, survival, and beauty. They are slowly dissolving, breaking down, falling apart back into the landscape, and are quickly being replaced by the newer, uglier aluminum structures. The newer barns are built with cold metal and put up quickly, while the older barns are made of wood and still show the hard work and love that generations have put into the land to carve out a living for their families. The only way that I can preserve that memory of a forgotten era is to paint what is left of them.
