In Hansen's Not titled, the application of soft pastel casts the scene in filtered, dreamy light, the ornate structure still and deserted.

Christian Hansen is an emerging artist whose practice centers on painting and drawing. Working on both paper and canvas in acrylic, gouache, pencil, and pastel his works are symbolic and intense. A fascination with African culture has been the focus of much of Hansen's works to date depicting various subjects such as the wildlife and habitat of savanna animals, figures in traditional tribal dress to South African white early male settlers that comment on white power and the politics of colonialism.

Hansen has worked in the Arts Project studio since 2017. He has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions and is a current member of the Northcote Penguins, an art collective formed during the Professional Practice Program at Arts Project Australia. His work is held in in private collections throughout Australia.
