Erich Kahn was a prolific draughtsman who worked in ink, charcoal, pencil and watercolour, though he mostly favoured sanguine for the subtle way he could move between tone and line. During the early 1950s, he was an active participant at the life drawing sessions held at the Hampstead studio of the former fellow Hutchinson camp internee, sculptor Paul Hamann. This vibrant abstract is from the same postwar period.
