She met Dali in 1929. Dali went to paris that April to present a film he made with Luis Buñuel named Un Chien Andalou. There he met Camille Goemans, a poet and a gallery owner, who introduced him to Paul Eluard. Dali invited them to spend the summer in Cadaqués. Goemans, a friend of his, René Magritte and his wife, Luis Buñuel, Paul Eluard and Gala, and their daughter Cécile all spent some time in Cadaqués. When Dali first met Gala he instantly fel in love with her.
In 1958 Dali and Gala got married at the Ángels Chapel. In 1968 Dali bought Gala a castle in Púbol, Girona. Between 1971 and 1980, gala would spend time at her castle in the summer. Gala was buried there after her death in 1982. In 1996 the castle was opened up to the public as the Gala-Dali Castle House Museum.
