Urban artist francese. Inizia il suo percorso artistico come street artist, siglando le strade di Parigi con lo pseudonimo di Face 3, per poi individuare nella fotografia il mezzo espressivo d’elezione, con cui intervenire nella città.

L’opera, che riprende la “Creazione di Adamo” di Michelangelo, è realizzata in uno dei tanti cortili nascosti di Parigi: un murales, che ritrae il Creatore michelangiolesco, anima le vecchie mura del palazzo e una giovane donna in pantofole, costretta all’isolamento domestico, è fotografata mentre gli porge la mano. Il risultato è un lavoro dalla straordinaria potenza emotiva, che parla dell’importanza di reinventarsi durante e dopo la pandemia, e riflette sul significato più profondo dei rapporti intersoggettivi, irrimediabilmente destinati a non essere più gli stessi in un’epoca costretta tra distanziamento sociale e iper-connessione.

Sulla copertina del “Time”, il 27 aprile 2020, campeggia “Finding Hope” di JR. L’opera di street art, realizzata sul suolo stradale e visibile solo dalle finestre delle case, è comparsa una mattina per le strade del 19° arrondissement di Parigi, rese deserte dal lockdown. L’immagine, che si rivela solo se osservata da una prospettiva precisa, quella delle case che si affacciano sulla strada, raffigura un occhio che scruta al di là della tendina - rappresentata dalle strisce pedonali - richiamando così al costante timore (ma anche al desiderio) di accedere allo spazio esterno.

The work, influenced by Michelangelo's "Creation of Adam”, is set in one of the many hidden courtyards of Paris: a mural, depicting Michelangelo's Creator, animates the old walls of the palace and a young woman in slippers, forced into domestic isolation, is photographed while she is holding out her hand to him. The result is a work of extraordinary emotional power, which expresses the importance of reinventing oneself during and after the pandemic, and reflects on the deeper meaning of inter-subjective relationships, irreparably destined to be no longer the same in an era forced between social distancing and hyper-connection.

“Finding Hope” by JR is the cover of "Time", April 27 2020. The street art work, realized on the street floor and visible only from the windows of some houses, appeared one morning on the streets of the 19th arrondissement of Paris, made deserted by the lockdown. The image, which reveals itself only if observed from a precise perspective, that of the houses facing the street, depicts an eye that peers beyond the curtain - represented by the crosswalks - thus recalling the constant fear (but also the desire) of accessing the external space.
