The annual Tar Barrels event is without doubt the craziest organised event I have had the pleasure of witnessing. If it is not dangerous enough that grown men and women lift large barrels of flaming tar and run around the densely packed streets of Ottery St Mary, but children do it too. I was amazed how the parents of these brave little people goad them to be brave and complete the task at hand even if they are partially on fire. I wanted to capture this bizarre spectacle
before it is banned.
