Twisted tree
Category - Landscape
[BPA2021-209]

This image was taken at Wistmans Wood on Dartmoor, Devon. This tree stood out to me due to its intricate detail of texture and shape. After placing my Canon EOS 80D and 24-70mm lens on a tripod, I set my focal length to the widest (24mm), set my tripod low to the ground, and angled my camera to look slightly up. This allows me to fit the mossy, overgrown boulders and intricate twisted branches into the shot, whilst keeping the tree as the main subject. The fog does a nice job of separating this from the background. My ISO was set to 800 to allow me to achieve a shutter speed of 1/25 to keep the finer details in focus, due to the harsh wind blowing the ferns and leaves. A slower shutter speed would have caused them to be blurry, which was a look I did not want with this particular shot.
