An all-male film crew attempts to stage a video clip (film unknown) in front of the Giza pyramids in Cairo, Egypt. What has long been the fascination of orientalist painters and photographers makes its way to film and popular culture in the form of a unique, ‘Arabian’ aesthetic.

20th-century films, particularly in Hollywood, emphasized this notion of the Middle East as a place where life is centered around desires, evident in the subject here, a caucasian woman, who appears in a seductive pose ahead of the film camera. She is the epitome of exoticism to all the western viewers who viewed this film. Her care-free persona, standing alone in the middle of a desert, implies that the East is a place of indulgence. The pyramids lose all recognition as ancient historical monuments and are mere romantic glimpses into Egyptian/Arab life.
