A Sense of Touch

A Sense of Touch - During the pandemic new technologies have enabled us to stay connected when distanced from friends and family but as social animals, we need physical contact. Touching, through the activation of sensory nerves, is linked to the release of the hormone oxytocin, which promotes a sense of well-being, stress reduction and a healthy immune system. The lack of opportunity for normal social contact can lead to feelings of isolation or ill-ease that are difficult to overcome. As a small compensation, I have revisited old photographs, reediting and re-cropping them to focus on “touch”.
