Impatience , 2020

In the work “Impatience”, two hands are wiping the floor, and the yellow liquid on the floor symbolizes the patient’s urine. The viewer secretly watches the caregiver wipe the floor through the broken glass. Alzheimer’s disease prevents patients from taking care of their physical needs. Although the caregiver tells the patient again and again where the restroom is, the patient still urinates in the wrong place. This is not the patient’s fault, but cleaning up again and again still makes the caregiver tired.
The broken dishes on the ground and the broken glass in the foreground may be broken by the patient accidentally, or by the caregiver because of anger. The heavy rain in the background symbolizes that the situation will never be cleaned up. Despite being a close lover and family member, Alzheimer’s disease wears away the love between the patient and the caregiver. In the end, often only a little sense of responsibility is left to support the care.
