Still Life is characteristic of Ciccone's practice—the seemingly randomly chosen and haphazardly placed objects presented in a manner that is elegantly balanced and controlled.

With a career spanning over 30 years, Valerio Ciccone works with a variety of mediums on paper, with an ongoing interest in ceramics and animation. Creating predominantly figurative works, He employs his idiosyncratic and fluid style to depict a diverse range of subject matter including portraits, animals, still life, football stars and pop culture icons.

Ciccone has been a regular studio artist at Arts Project Australia since 1984 and has presented three solo exhibitions: one at Arts Project Australia and two at Pinacotheca. His works are held in the public collections Australian Gallery of Sport, MADMusée, National Gallery of Victoria as gifted by Stuart Purves and the National Gallery of Australia print archive. His work is also held in corporate and private collections worldwide.
