Single mothers , 2022

Uganda. Annette is a single mother who stays in Banda but travels around 4 kilometers daily to collect plastic bottles which she stores in Kamuli. The money she earns pays for her son's fees in kindergarten.
________

One day on my way to work, I saw a lady carrying sacks of bottles, I stopped and asked her do you not have children or someone to help you carry these heavy sacks?

Annette was kind enough to tell me about her work and family. On another day, I met Sarah and then later on Hajjat.

These women work hard for their children and grandchildren and their contribution to the environment should be noticed. They should be encouraged and paid for their service as exemplary citizens of Uganda. That is was inspired this story and work.
