Bereavement
, 2024
220 x 164 x 5 cm (h x w x d)
stoneware clay, wood plank, wire and found lighting.
This wall installation represents sonder and the many faces of sorrow amidst the mourning of a young girl. It was inspired by Kathe Kollwitz’s bronze tomb reliefs and Christian Boltanski’s installations, particularly his use of lighting and repeated facial motifs seen in his wall installations.
The subtle light illuminating over each ceramic face creates strong contrast and adds to the drama of the artwork.
