External beauty is temporary, and I am reminded of this every time I shop for flowers. I desired to capture this sensation because external beauty is the beauty that most fascinates me because of its fleeting quality. In the artwork, I hold flowers that have been dying since I plucked them. Due to my desire to enjoy their beauty, I have caused them a shortened time in life and in beauty. Painting my eyes closed, I am showing I am not consciously choosing their death, but have caused it anyways.
